Apple Cider Margaritas

When you mix a classic margarita with traditional autumn apples, you get an Apple Cider Margarita – and it’s like tasting the best flavors of fall in a glass over ice.

This autumn cocktail contains lime juice, tequila, orange liqueur and apple cider, poured in a glass that’s rimmed with cinnamon sugar. A teaspoon or two of maple syrup adds an additional dash of autumn sweetness. We know you’ll fall in love with this seasonal margarita at first sip.

It’s a cheery adult beverage for a holiday party or New Year cocktails. And did we mention it takes minimal prep time?

Apple cider vs. Apple Juice: What’s the Difference?

You often hear people referring to apple cider as apple juice and vice versa. While both products contain juice squeezed from apples, the process is a bit different.

Apple cider in its purest form is the juice from chopped and mashed apples. It still has some pulp, and it also contains more vitamins and minerals. Apple juice, on the other hand, is filtered juice that’s been heated to 190 F during processing. It contains little, if any, pulp and many nutrients are cooked out in its process.

Of the two, Apple Cider is definitely the healthier option.

Unlike regular apple juice, pulpy apple cider contains pectin. Pectin is a soluble fiber that can prevent constipation and keep you regular. Apple cider can also help to relax your intestines, which can alleviate digestive discomfort and support overall digestive health.

Apple cider is also rich in polyphenols. These potent antioxidant compounds fight against free radicals and cell damage, lowering your risk of heart disease and certain types of cancer. Polyphenols also help to ease inflammation in the body.

Pro tips for easy prep

We recommend using Blanco tequila, which is also what you’ll want to use in a classic Margarita. Cointreau and Triple Sec are strong, sweet, orange-flavored liqueurs and they’re essential for creating the perfect Margarita. Blanco tequila pairs nicely with citrus flavors like lime juice and Cointreau.

And of course, a margarita isn’t a margarita without a rimmed glass! For the Apple Cider Margarita, we recommend running a lime wedge around the outer rim of your glass. Then, slowly dip the rim into a wide bowl or plate filled with cinnamon sugar [or, you can use a blend of salt and cinnamon if you don’t want the extra sweetness]. Shake off any excess. Be sure to rim your glass as close to when you’re serving your drinks as possible to avoid any gummy, unpleasant texture.

And as always, a capsule or two of Digestive Enzymes before you indulge helps break down the toxic properties of alcohol and helps eliminate them from the body. Zenwise then Cheers!
