The microbiome is a collection of good bacteria and fungi that reside in the gut and is a critical component of optimal gut health. When pathogens or bad bacteria take over, it can cause more serious gut complications and even compromise the gut lining, allowing toxins to seep into the system. These might explain gut complications like digestive pain and discomfort, bloating, and irregularity.

This reset program is based on lengthier gut healing protocols I’ve developed for my clients as a way to help restore gut health for the times you may feel like you have gotten off track, whether that be due to holidays, traveling, or life in general. 

The idea of this program is to give the gut a little break by consuming easier-to-digest foods while at the same time consuming foods that help optimize the microbiome like fiber, which feeds the beneficial bacteria, and bone broth which contains nutrients that support a healthy gut lining as well as helps decrease inflammation and ease digestive discomfort. While this program is designed for 3 days, you can maintain this type of diet for a longer period of time if needed although I always recommend working with a practitioner for guidance if you are needing more gut healing.

Carley Smith, The Fairy Gutmother, is a gut health coach and public speaker who is passionate about promoting gut health education and awareness to encourage meaningful changes in daily routines that help restore and optimize gut health, the foundation for our health. She is a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and Certified Gut & Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Practitioner (CGP) as well as a 200-hour Registered Yoga Instructor (RYT).

Carley became interested in health and nutrition after being diagnosed with Lyme disease. Conversations with her doctors felt like they were leading nowhere and she realized she had two options: succumb to her diagnosis, or, learn to live in harmony with the disease, take care of her body, and regain control.

Desperate for a breakthrough, she began researching alternative ways to heal and restore her health. After all her digging, she came to the conclusion that good gut health was the key to a happier and healthier life. She saw so much improvement and felt so empowered after just a few months on a gut healing diet that she dove headfirst into becoming a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and Certified GAPS Practitioner, so that she could empower others to heal and live a vibrant life fueled by gut health!
